ASTM F1554

The specification for ASTM F1554 was introduced in 1994 and includes details related to anchor bolts for supporting concrete structure foundations. These anchor bolts are present either in the form of headed bolts, bent anchor belts, or straight rods. Three grades of 36, 105, and 55 indicate the anchor bolt’s minimum yield strength (ksi). The user can either roll threaded or cut the bolts and substitute weldable grade 55 instead of grade 36 at the supplier option. Color coding like blue for 36, red for 105, and yellow for 55 assists in easy field identification. Under the requirements of S2 Supplementary, grade marking and the permanent manufacturer is allowed.

F1554 anchor bolts found their applications in the columns of the traffic signal, overhead sign structures, structural steel framed buildings, and street lighting poles.

F1554 Grades

36 Low carbon, 36 ksi yield steel anchor bolts
55 High strength, low alloy, 55 ksi yield steel anchor bolts
105 alloy, heat treated, high strength 105 ksi yield steel anchor bolts
